Freedom Course FAQs

All employees of Mercy UK have the right to be treated with consideration, dignity and respect. Mercy UK will not tolerate any abuse, whether verbal, emotional or otherwise, from our service users or from members of the public and we reserve the right to refer service users on to more appropriate support avenues in such situations.


Safeguarding Disclaimer

Everything you share throughout your application process will be strictly confidential between you and Mercy UK. Mercy UK will never use this information against you in any way – not to hurt you, embarrass you, judge you, or to keep you from getting the support you need. 

There are exceptions to confidentiality, and should these occur or are suspected, a member of the Admissions Team will discuss this with you, where possible. 

The exceptions to confidentiality are:

1. Abuse: If you know of a minor (under 18) or vulnerable adult being abused or at risk of harm, you (or Mercy UK) are required by law to report it to the local Child Protection Agency.

2. Risk of Serious Harm: If either you or anyone else is at risk of serious harm or where there is threat to life, Mercy UK is required to report this to the appropriate authorities to ensure appropriate support and care.

3. Where there is a legal obligation to disclose information. If anything, you share throughout your application process raises any safeguarding concerns, that is we identify a risk of harm to yourself or anyone else, then a member of the Admissions Team will seek the advice of Mercy UK’s safeguarding officer and will then talk you through the most appropriate response to the concern raised.
